IQP Certification. What is an Independently Qualified Person?
An IQP is a person who is accepted by a territorial authority, as being qualified to carry out or supervise all or some of the inspection, maintenance, and reporting procedures required for a specified system as stated on a building compliance schedule. An IQP can certify that those procedures have been fully complied with.
- ‘Independent’ means that the person has no financial interest in the building.
- An IQP must have thorough knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and of other legal obligations under the Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) regime.
- IQP’s are registered on the appropriate local regional IQP register.
